This is a major update, certainly larger than I saw in the games I played with those periodic or monthly updates. But it is not intended to replace a new chapter, which will be huge. I don't know how else to explain it other than to say there will be a lot to see and do and experience in the live update.
Focus: The development of this area does not in any way mean we're not attending to concerns in other areas of the game. There are many small teams working on the game, and putting in the Summer Update will not forestall PvP changes, development of Chapter 2, or finalization of our plans for the global tournament.
Hope this is helpful information, and thanks to those who had such positive comments to make.

Although I'm mostly a PvE type of player, I wonder if the PvP changes and other fixes to the game will be included with the Sorrow's Furnace game update?

I can't tell if he was referring to ascended content (like new Temple of Ages maps) or if he meant for Sorrows Furnace! I think its time for you to be Miss Sherlock Holmes, and sneak around the office to figure this out!

I don't understand why all of you who say that you have "given up" on Guild Wars continue to troll around these boards and post MULTIPLE responses to thread after thread.
If you've given up then please, and I think I speak for a large part of the community here, MOVE ON!
If you wanna feel part of a forums community go to freaking Friendster or something we don't need you jabbing in your little counter productive 2 cents on a game you don't even like or play anymore.
I myself thought the movies looked good and am looking forward to the added content. Yes the metal boss looks like a background character, but in truth he reminds me of a Contra boss. The type wher he would be part of the background and you'd have to hang from the ceiling and and shoo the blue diamond on his head that only apeared when he'd breath fire or some crazy junk like that. I miss my Nintendo.

Let's get back on topic, folks. Let's see...what was it again?
Seriously, do not let this degenerate into yet ANOTHER PvP/PvE discussion, body slam contest. Stick to the topic and if you just can't contain yourself, send along a juicy PM to the person offending you.

I say it again, I did not seen anything interesting since only thing that was "new" was the golem/robot/whatever (and I already knew about it).

One *minor* quibble...
The movie shows all sorts of classes doing all sorts of cool things to many different enemies in beautiful locations that look simply outstanding. However, I could find only a few frames of my favorite class, the lowly Mesmer. She was posing dramatically, for sure, in her tiny little skirt, but I'd have liked to have seen at least a few more seconds of a Mesmer in action. Alas!

The Title "Beta-Tester" may not be accurate and my only mean "tester" if the game isn't actually in Beta yet... Just a thought.
As for the video... I look forward to the new area (and hope it's not favor related) and look forward to killing the one new monster that the vid revealed to us. I also look forward to seeing 8 of us try to take out that massive clockwork monster! Perhaps (unrevealed) they've finally included a way to party together two teams of 8 Would make the massive monster in the furnace more approachable.

That sounds about right, lets hope that the scenery is alittle more interactive as that can really spice up the PvE side of things.

I keep seeing people say that the boss was the only new monster... watch again and look closer, I'm pretty sure there's another that we see a few times in that video.

well, i cant dl the vid, mainly cause i dont wanna screw up my machine by adding the roxio content that the latest versions of media player add, and Divx, pff, no thanks my macine dosent like them, but it *sounds* interesting, from everyones comments
reading the part from the state of he game letter, it sounds to me, like most if not all of sorows furnace will be mainly for accended people.
guess the guys in Dev have got to go with the largest groups, and all the folks that ran ahead <not mean like running, just meant like got there faster than me and mine> would need somehting to keep then playing other thn spanking peeps in the PvP arena and so forth.^^;
still, hopeing that those that havent quite managed to get to acention will still at least be able to wander round the town/outpost part once they get there....that, for me, is the more important part, compared to the missions ect, i just like to travel to a new area in the game and look around.
guess there should be a new class, Tourist

id rather see all this stuff in-game before I judge. I haven't even looked at this movie thinghy as I hate spoilers and such. However Borlis pass with fire and some underground areas sounds cool to me.

we shouldnt be making judgements about a huge expansion when our opinions are only based on a little video
